Defining VoIP Services for your Business Office
By ErikSnellGBT
Determine your needs fo a VoIP provider in the office
Have you really compared the rates for VoIP against a land line phone? Remember when you had to limit long distance calls or block them on certain lines. I used to have codes for long distance that would track each employee and what long distance calls they made.
I took a break from all that with VoIP and the a new virtual phone system. I enjoy trouble free phone service and save a lot of money with mine. I don't get bent out of shape when I get the bill any more either.
When I started looking at making a switch I compared the rates and services from each phone provider.
- $ 50.00 a month for each land line dial tone
- Local calls were unlimited (a good thing)
- Long distance was a lot of money each month
- No voice mail
- ID and other features were extra
- I had to buy phone hardware
After long distance calls and paying for 3 lines my phone bill was over $300.00 each month. I had to remain calm and find a solution, VoIP seemed a logical place to start for my business. It offered great features that the office frankly got a kick out of using.
The VoIp provider offered numerous plans and I picked one suited forme and my office.
- Unlimited calling (U.S./Canada) Area codes of my choice on four lines
- Main company number was toll free or local, my choice
- A fax number toll free or local that came right to our desktop computer
- Unlimited extensions with a PBX system
- Big time call management options
- Cost, around $100 a month
Some other things to consider that I didn't realize. The through your computer fax saves the time of getting up to go get them and take them to the person they are for. Just open, look, then either print, or forward them on like an e-mail. No more using paper and ink to print those stupid take a vacation spam faxes. The system even stores the fax for me on the providers server.
There are many considerations when you look at a VoIP/Broadband system and make sure you have enough band width to do it. Most broadband connections today have plenty if you already have an internet connection.
Everyone is different and you need to consider all your needs, we tried it on the free trial basis for weeks before switching out completely. I'm glad I did! Visit the RingCentral Information Blog to read more and look at all the options before choosing.
